Arua is a city and commercial centre within the Arua District in the Northern Region of Uganda.^[2][3]

Arua is approximately 475 kilometres (295 mi), by road, north-west of Kampala, the capital and largest city of Uganda,^[4] Arua is about 228 kilometres (142 mi), by road, west of Gulu, the largest city in Uganda's Northern Region.^[5] The geographical coordinates of the city of Arua are 03°02'07.0"N, 30°54'39.0"E (Latitude:3.035278; Longitude:30.910833).^[6] Arua sits at an average elevation of 1,310 metres (4,298 ft) above sea level.^[7] Arua is closely bordered to the Democratic Republic of Congo in the west and South Sudan in the north which makes it a strategic location for business between Uganda and her two neighbors to the west and north.^[8]

Due to its strategic location, Arua is also part of the Refugee program of hosting up to 20% of refugees entering into Uganda, annually.^[9]

Arua is an important base for non-governmental organizations working in the West Nile sub-region or serving Western Equatoria in South Sudan and the northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. It became an important commercial supply centre and transport route when the Yei–Juba road opened, enabling supplies to come into Juba from the south on the Kaya Highway instead of through Khartoum from the north.^[7]

A branch of the Uganda Railways was extended to Arua sometime after 1964,^[10] but there has been no passenger rail service in Uganda for many years.^[11]

The Vurra–Arua–Koboko–Oraba Road passes through town, in a south/north direction.^[12]

The city is served by Arua Airport, which has scheduled air service.^[13]

The 1969 national census enumerated the population of Arua Town at 10,837. In 1991, the census enumerated 22,217 people in the town. In 2002, the population had increased to 43,929. The August 2014 national census and household survey enumerated the population of Arua Town Council at 61,962. In 2020, the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) estimated the mid-year population to be 72,400. UBOS calculated that the population of Arua Municipality grew at an average rate of 2.7 percent annually, between 2014 and 2020.^[1]

In v0.16 arq was COMPLETELY REWRITTEN to use an entily diffent approach to gistering workers, enqueueing jobs and processing jobs. You will need to either keep using v0.15 or entily write you arq integration to use v0.16.

Why use arq?

and easy to ason with - curntly arq is only about 700 lines, that won’t change significantly.

I’m a long time contributor to and user of rq, arq is designed to be simpler, clear and mo powerful.

Asyncio and no forking make arq around 7x faster than rq for short jobs with no io. With io that might incase to around 40x faster. (TODO)

Deferd execution, easy trying of jobs, and pessimistic execution (see below) means arq is gat for critical jobs that must be completed.

arq is built using python 3’s asyncio allowing non-blocking job enqueuing and execution. Multiple jobs (potentially hundds) can be run simultaneously using a pool of asyncio Tasks.

This approach means your frontend (calling the worker) doesn’t need access to the worker code, meaning better code separation and possibly smaller images etc.

The approach used in arq v0.16 of enqueueing jobs by name rather than “just calling a function” and knowing it will be called on the worker (as used in arq <= v0.15, rq, celery et al.) might seem less elegant, but it’s for good ason.

Objectives: To compare the effects of an intermediate molecular weight (MW) intra-articular hyaluronic acid (HA) with a low MW product on knee osteoarthritis (OA) symptoms.

Methods: Patients with symptomatic knee OA were enrolled inarandomised, controlled, double-blind, parallel-group, non-inferiority trial with the possibility to shift to superiority. Patients were randomised to GO-ON(MW 800-1500 kD, 25 mg/2.5 ml) or Hyalgan(MW 500-730 kD, 20 mg/2 ml) injected at 3-weekly intervals. The primary outcome was 6-month change in the WOMAC pain subscale (0-100 mm). Sample size was calculated on a non-inferiority margin of 9 mm, lower than the minimum perceptible clinical improvement. Secondary endpoints included OARSI-OMERACT responder rates

Results: The intention-to-treat (ITT) and per-protocol (PP) populations consisted of 217 and 209 patients and 171 and 172 patients in the GO-ON and Hyalgan groups, respectively. ITT WOMAC pain of 47.5±1.0(SE) and 48.8±1.0 mm decreased by 22.9±1.4 mm with GO-ON and 18.4±1.5 mm with Hyalgan after 6 months. The primary analysis was conducted in the PP population followed by the ITT population.Mean (95% CI) differences in WOMAC pain change were 5.2 (0.9 to 9.6)mm and 4.5 (0.5 to 8.5)mm, respectively,favouring GO-ON, satisfying the claim for non-inferiority (lower limit>-9 mm) and for statistical superiority (95% CI all>0, p=0.021). Ahigher proportion of OARSI/OMERACT responders was observed with GO-ONthan with Hyalgan (73.3% vs58.4%, p=0.001). Both preparations were well tolerated.

Conclusions: Treatment with 3-weekly injections of intermediate MW HA may be superior to low MW HA on knee OA symptoms over 6 months, with similar safety.

Background: The role of the intersphincteric space in the pathogenesis of fistula-in-ano is being increasingly recognized. Submucosal and intersphincteric rectal abscesses have been surgically managed by laying open and draining the intersphincteric space as well as by the modified ligation of intersphincteric fistula tract (LIFT) procedure. In 2017, the transanal opening of intersphincteric space (TROPIS) technique was reported for the treatment of high, complex anal fistulae.

Aim: We aim to investigate the advantages of performing the TROPIS procedure in patients with fistula-in-ano.

Methods: This was a prospective cohort study investigating the outcomes in patients who had undergone a procedure using the TROPIS technique for the treatment of fistula-in-ano. Preoperative magnetic resonance imaging scans and electronic colonoscopies were performed on all patients. A clinical database evaluating the following variables was constructed: age, gender, body mass index (BMI), previous fistula surgery, type of fistula, postoperative complications, duration of follow-up, success rate, and incontinence scores pre- and postoperatively.

Results: The TROPIS procedure was performed on 41 patients with fistula-in-ano with a follow-up time of 6-23 months. The characteristics of the patients were as follows: 36 males, 6 females, mean age 38.6±13.2 years, and mean BMI 23.5±3.9 kg·m^-2. All patients (41) had transsphincteric fistulae, and 90.2% (37) had high fistula. Of the 41 patients, 22% (9) had recurrent fistulae, 29.27% (12) had horseshoe fistulae, 7.3% (3) had supralevator fistulae, and 14.6% (6) had an associated abscess. The fistula healed completely in 85.3% (35) of patients and failed to heal in 14.7% (6) of patients, and the healing of high fistula was 86.5% (32). Of those patients who had not healed completely, 2 were found to have contracted iatrogenic infections due to foreign residues and underwent surgery with the passing of a loose seton. The additional 4 patients who had not healed underwent a fistulotomy and healed completely thereafter. There were no significant changes in incontinence scores. The incontinence scores were .15 ± .36 preoperatively and .22 ± .47 3 months postoperatively (t = -1.438, P = .16).

Conclusions: The TROPIS technique is a novel sphincter-preserving procedure, which can be effectively used in treating fistula-in-ano.

The National University Bulldogs, one of the pre-season favorites to win it all this season, have struggled to find their offensive touch. In their two losses, the Bulldogs crumbled in the final frame as no one wanted to take the shot.

Having watched his former squad for the first time this season, former King Bulldog Troy Rosario sees that this batch of Bulldogs have the same fire and determination they had back then.

However, the 24-year-old big man believes that Alfred Aroga is struggling with his new role with the team. After losing Gelo Alolino, Kyle Neypes, and Paolo Javellona to graduation, Aroga is currently the oldest veteran player the team has in their line-up.

Furthermore, Aroga’s substitute Matthew Aquino has only played three games after being declared ineligible to start the season. The 19-year-old is still figuring out coach Eric Altamirano’s system, Rosario added.
