Центральный музей Великой Отечественной войны композиционный центр Мемориального комплекса на Поклонной горе. Панорама на беломраморное здание музея, обрамленное полукруглой колоннадой, открывается от Триумфальной арки. К музею, призванному увековечить память о героизме и мужестве, проявленном нашими соотечественниками в годы войны, ведет Центральная аллея Парка Победы.

Решение строительстве памятника Победы на Поклонной горе было принято в мае 1957 года. На высшей точке Поклонной горы 23 февраля 1958 года был установлен гранитный закладной камень с надписью: «Здесь будет сооружен памятник Победы советского народа в Великой Отечественной войне», В честь этого события был прове- ден парад войск Московского гарнизона. The Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War is the compositional center of the Memorial complex on Poklonnaya Hill. The panorama of the white marble building of the museum, framed by a semicircular colonnade, opens from the Arc de Triomphe. The Central Alley of Victory Park leads to the museum, designed to perpetuate the memory of heroism and courage shown by our compatriots during the war years.

The decision to build the Victory Monument on Poklonnaya Hill was made in May 1957. On February 23, 1958, a granite embedded stone was erected on the highest point of Poklonnaya Gora with the inscription: “A monument to the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War will be built here.” In honor of this event, a parade of troops of the Moscow garrison was held. The grand opening of the Victory Memorial took place on May 9, 1995. It was dedicated to the half-century anniversary of the Victory.

The museum building with an area of ​​about 34 thousand square meters in appearance is a cube standing on seven round bases. Perhaps this is due to the fact that, according to legend, Moscow rests on seven hills. Granite foundations with a diameter of 30 meters are below the level of the colonnade and the walls bearing the dome. At the base are six dioramas of the main battles of the war and a cinema hall. The building is crowned by a large dome with a 15-meter tetrahedral spire. The dome, symbolizing the sky with everlasting stars, means the immortality of the heroic deed.

The facade of the museum building is decorated with a colonnade that extends beyond the walls of the main building supporting the dome and forms a half ring. The main cinema hall and two exhibition halls adjoin the main building on the ground floor.

Военно-историческая экспозиция «Подвиг и Победа великого народа» размещена в Гвардейских залах (15) музея. Зкспозиция воссоздает атмосферу и события 1941-1945 годов. В ней более 4 тысяч экспонатов, которые знакомят с предвоенным периодом, рассказывают о нападении гитлеровской Германии на Советский Союз, о ходе боевых действий, партизанском движении, советском тыле, освобождении стран Европы, взаимодействий СССР с союзниками по антигитлеровской коалиции, о судебных процессах над немецкими и японскими военными преступниками.

В экспозиции наряду с фотографиями и документами представлены оружие, обмундирование, знамена, награды бойцов и командиров Красной Армии, а также тех, кто в тылу все силы отдавал на нужды Фронта. Музейная экспозиция продолжается в Парке Победы, где расположена выставка военной техники и инженерно-фортификационных сооружений Великой Отечественной войны.

The military-historical exposition “The Feat and Victory of the Great People” is located in the Guards halls (15) of the museum. The exhibition recreates the atmosphere and events of 1941-1945. It contains more than 4 thousand exhibits that introduce the pre-war period, telling about the attack of Nazi Germany on the Soviet Union, the course of hostilities, the partisan movement, the Soviet rear, the liberation of Europe, the USSR’s interactions with the allies of the anti-Hitler coalition, and the trials of the German and Japanese war criminals.

Along with photographs and documents, the exposition presents weapons, uniforms, banners, awards of soldiers and commanders of the Red Army, as well as those who devoted all their forces in the rear to the needs of the Front. The museum exposition continues in Victory Park, where an exhibition of military equipment and engineering and fortifications of the Great Patriotic War is located.

В центре площади Победителей перед Центральным музеем Великой Отечественной войны установлен главный монумент Мемориала на Поклонной горе – обелиск Победы. Он воздвигнут в честь воинов Красной Армии, совершивших свой бессмертный подвиг в годы войны. Обелиск стал символом благодарности воинамосвободителям, символом несломленного духа советского народа.

Обелиск выполнен в форме русского ружейного штыка, поднятого защитниками Отечества против своего врага. Мемориальная стела-штык возвышается на 141,8 метра, что символизирует 1418 долгих и трудных дней и ночей Великой Отечественной войны.

Тему всенародного подвига раскрывают многофигурные композиции бронзовых барельефов, размещенных на гранях обелиска. У подножия стелы на гранитном постаменте расположена конная статуя Святого Георгия Победоносца, копьем поражающего дракона. Устремленная вверх стела заканчивается скульптурной композицией «Богиня победы Ника».

Монумент установлен на подиуме, стоящем на массивных черных и красных гранитных блоках. Постамент сооружен на небольшом насыпном кургане.

Обелиск представляет собой классическую стелу трехгранного сечения с утончающимся верхом. Он образует контрастно-темную вертикаль на фоне белой горизонтали здания музея. стела «Штык» весом около 1000 г изготовлена из особо прочной стали и облицована камнем.

The obelisk is made in the form of a Russian gun bayonet, raised by the defenders of the Fatherland against their enemy. The memorial stele bayonet rises by 141.8 meters, which symbolizes 1418 long and difficult days and nights of World War II.

The theme of the nation-wide feat is revealed by the multi-figured compositions of bronze bas-reliefs placed on the faces of the obelisk. At the foot of the stele on a granite pedestal is an equestrian statue of St. George the Victorious, with a spear of a slashing dragon. The stele directed upwards ends with the sculptural composition “Goddess of Victory Nick”.

The monument is installed on the podium, standing on massive black and red granite blocks. The pedestal was built on a small bulk mound.

The obelisk is a classic stela of a trihedral section with a thinning top. It forms a contrasting dark vertical against the background of the white horizontal of the museum building. The “Bayonet” stela weighing about 1000 g is made of especially durable steel and lined with stone.
